Obituary
When we adopted Skeeter at the age of 6, everyone said we would be lucky if we had a few years together. Nine amazing years later, on new years day, we said goodbye to our sweet girl.
It was fate that brought us together. Had we not stumbled into that vineyard in Virginia all those years ago, Skeeter would never have become the anchor of our family.
Skeeter was pure light. No one could look at her face with her signature tongue-hanging-out, and later rocking the one-eyed pirate look, and not break out in a smile.
She was an absolute fighter - going after German Shepherds, Rottweilers, and even the occassional Horse - with no awareness of her size or how seriously she was outmatched. She loved even more fiercely, following us around the house and 'protecting' us against our greatest adversaries - primarily the broom.
She was a world traveler - having stepped paws in 6 countries across 3 continents. She also had more personality than most humans, and of course she was the best ever big sister.
We are forever grateful that Skeeter held on long enough to meet and love Etta -- and for Etta to have the chance to grow to love Skeeter back just as much. As heartbreaking as it is to watch Etta run around the house looking for Skeeter, we will tell her so many stories that Etta will know her in her own way.
We were the luckiest people in the world to have Skeeter in our lives. Through so many different phases, places, ups and downs - she was our constant.
We will miss her endlessly. We love you forever Junie.
Life Timeline
Born in the heart of Virginia to a local breeder
Skeeter - being the chaotic, fierce, dog-hating girl that she was - never got along with the other pups in her litter. Eventually she started a fight that resulted in her father (a showdog!) losing his eye. His loss was our gain - as they put her up for adoption and the rest is history!
